As Natives, we pull our canoe across the water in our canoe families here.
As Skaters, we push on our skate boards together across the concrete.
We do both of these to feel the sun on our skin, the wind in our hair, and be in good company.
These works are a part of my project around the convergence of Native American and skateboarding culture. I am mixing photo mediums like silver gelatin or Polaroids and traditional painting or wood working, with the language of today’s skate scene. Tradition and culture are not stagnant, they flow continuously like a river, adapting and growing with the land around it.
